WHAT ARE F1 OR F2 BREEDING

There are many different ways to breed a shorkie. There are several types of breeding.

Here is an example:

First generation- Shih tzu mom and Yorkie dad

F1B- Shorkie Bred to a purebred (Shih tzu or Yorkie)

F2- Shorkie to Shorkie

F3 - A F2 bred to F2

It is our goal and the goal of the Shorkie Club of America to become a AKC recognized breed. In order to do this you must breed many generations of a breed. It take many many many years to become an AKC recognized breed. AKC needs to know what the breed standard should be and what the breed should look like full grown and the size they should be. Until you start doing multiple generations of them you never know what they will truly look like when they grow up, or the size they will be.

We are at the point now where we will be having what other breeders call an F2. This is a shorkie to a shorkie, with this we will be able to provide puppy parents every where with a more genetically sound puppy since all our adults are genetically tested. We have kept back our own shorkie puppies to do F2 (second generation) with. But please take note non or our babies are ever inbreed, or line bred we do NOT believe in either one. Each of our shorkie parents will be genetically tested as well. So our puppy parents will know that not only are the parents tested but also the grandparents to their baby are test.

We will not have any F2 shorkies until the end of 2012 or later.

I will be adding more to this page as I have time.
