I
adopted
a
wonderful
little
girl
from
a
VERY
REPUTABLE
SHOW
BREEDER,
SHE
HAD
MANY
AKC
CHAMPIONS
IN
HER
PEDIGREE.
At
the
age
of
12-24,,months
before
my
mom's
are
bred
I
have
them
CERF
tested.
On
7/20/2008
I
took
her
to
Eye Care for Animals
11950 W. 110th Street, Suite A
Overland Park, KS 66210
to
be
tested.
Since
my
regular
vets
dose
not
do
Cerf
testing.
In
order
to
do
Cerf
testing
you
have
to
have
special
schooling.
To
my
surprise
the
doctor
said
she
had
beginning
stages
of
Progressive
Retinal
Atrophy.
This
disease
can
only
be
found
by
doing
a CERF
test,
until
your
dog
go's
blind.
The
doctor
I
saw
said
Shih
Tzu's
are
one
of the
number
1
breed
with
this
eye
problem.

What I am trying to say just because a Shorkie breeder has AKC or champion lines in their adults, there is no way you can tell if they have a genetic flaw unless you do the proper genetic testing. That goes even if they raised up the adult from a puppy. Some parents can still be carries and not have the disease them self. That is why EVERY one in the breeding program should be tested.
The point to breeding is allow our puppy parents to have the BEST and to produce HEALTHIER offspring for them. When you breed genetically sound adults you get a healthier off spring. which in general is making a better fur kid.
Genetically sound Shorkies are best combination of both worlds. Shorkies are the most loyal and loving breed. I look forward to hearing from you, and helping you adopt The Perfect Genetically sound "Fur Baby" for your family
Below is a wonderful article I found about this disease.
OUR BABIES MEAN THE WORLD TO US.. I AM A BREEDER THAT TAKES PRIDE IN MY FUR BABIES. I AM HERE FOR MY PUPPY PARENTS FOR ALL THE YEARS OF THEIR BABY'S LIFE. I LOVE TO GET UPDATES ON EACH AND EVERY BABY WE PLACE.
